Flaunty fined $20k over motorcycle death

Auckland politician Warren Flaunty has been ordered to pay $20,000 in reparation and has been disqualified from driving over the death of a motorcyclist.But he failed to escape from a conviction.Flaunty, a pharmacist,  Waitemata District Health Board member, Henderson-Massey Local Board member and former chairman of the Waitakere Licensing Trust, pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death in October 2011.
Bare legs, exposed arms, no gloves – scooter riders are living dangerously, says Nelson motorcyclist Chris Hogan.He's so concerned he's taken a series of photos of Nelson scooter riders to illustrate his point.He calls it the Scooter Hall of Shame and wants scooter riders to realise that they should wear protective clothing.
